Norah’s Journey From Kitenga to Pre-Law
When KGSS opened its doors in 2017, the first students called themselves The Pioneers. Among them was Norah Bryson Ching’oro, who graduated in 2020 with a dream of becoming a judge and a voice for women in her country. Today, that dream is in motion. After excelling at Serengeti High School, where she graduated with Division One results, Norah is now pursuing pre-law studies.
Her motivation is clear: “I am studying law to help the girls and the women who are being denied their rights — the right to study, the right to own property, the right to make their own decisions, and the right to marry the man of their choice.”
Looking back, Norah says Kitenga shaped her confidence, leadership, and ambition: “Every girl has her passion and ambition… there is nothing a girl can’t do.”
What Her Story Represents
We can’t help but be excited for Norah’s future — and for the futures of her 28 Pioneer classmates and the 106 graduates who have followed since. We stay in touch with many of them, and we know Norah is not alone. Each is taking what she learned at KGSS, and beyond, and building a path forward for herself and those around her.
As Norah reminds us, it’s not about giving girls power — they already have it. Our collective work is to remove the barriers that stand in their way.
