We are so proud to announce, that with GECs help, the Immaculate Heart Sisters of Africa have opened their amazing secondary school for girls in Kitenga. After many years of dreaming, planning, fundraising, and building, there are 59 girls on campus! This years Taste of Tanzania will be extra special as we celebrate the forthcoming official dedication of the Kitenga School For Girls.

The opening of the school is just the beginning! With your support, we’re working to build a foundation for the Kitenga School For Girls’ long-term success and growth. This year’s Taste of Tanzania has a fundraising goal of $30,000 to start ‘The Whole Girl Fund’. This fund will provide support to ensure that every girl’s needs are met, including:

  • Medical Care
  • Nutritious Diets
  • Academic Enrichment Programs
  • Athletics
  • Library shelves, overflowing with books!

The Whole Girl Fund will keep ‘inability to pay’ from ever being the reason a deserving girl is unable to attend this special school.

Your contributions, through buying a ticket, volunteering, sponsoring the event, participating in the “Give Back to Girls Marketplace” or various raffles have a direct impact on the lives of the girls at the Kitenga School For Girls. By obtaining an education, they acquire the tools they need to achieve the potential they deserve. Because they are in a boarding school, they are safe from the region’s cultural traditions of female genital mutilation and being sold into marriage.

Cannot attend on May 2, but would like to help us reach our goal?
